I wanted to share a heartfelt moment from an interview I completed this morning. I had the pleasure of interviewing a Child and Youth Care Worker in the Truro area [to be an ROE Instructor]. When asked why he wanted to become an Instructor, he told me that when he was in Grade 2, the Roots of Empathy program was offered in his class. He still remembers the experience and what he learned has stayed with him. As an adult, he attended the Nova Scotia Community College to become a CYCP. One of his instructors spoke of Roots of Empathy and encouraged the students to look up Mary Gordon speaking about empathy and emotional literacy on YouTube. He has always wanted to train as an Instructor as it was a wonderful experience for him as a child. He is now a father to a young son and feels that it has also impacted him as a parent. He wants as many children as possible to have this same experience.
