Mary Ito has been a broadcast journalist in Toronto for more than 30 years, best known as the host of CBC Radio One’s Fresh Air program. Known for her skills as an interviewer, Ito has spoken with people from all walks of life about countless subjects.

Mary hosts a weekly interview podcast called The CRAM Podcast, which bridges the gap between academic research and the general public. The podcast grew out of CRAM, a research festival for the public that she founded with the participation of Toronto’s four universities: the University of Toronto, Toronto Metropolitan University, York University, and OCAD University.

Mary Ito is a former long-time Board Member of Roots of Empathy, and we are honoured to have her host our Symposium.
