Ian Brown is an award-winning Canadian journalist and author whose five-decade career has spanned newspapers, magazines, radio and television. A longtime feature writer for The Globe and Mail, he has also written for Maclean’s, the Financial Post and Saturday Night, and hosted several CBC Radio and TV programs, including Sunday Morning, Talking Books and Human Edge.
His latest book, Seventy: A Diary of My Seventy-First Year, published in August 2026, is a candid and often humorous reflection on ageing, mortality and the experience of entering a new decade.
Known for his deeply reported, narrative-driven journalism, Ian has explored subjects ranging from politics and business to healthcare, culture and the complexities of human life. His books include The Boy in the Moon, which received the Charles Taylor Prize for Literary Non-Fiction and the BC National Award for Non-Fiction. His work has earned numerous National Newspaper and National Magazine Awards, as well as other major Canadian literary and journalism honours.
