Roots of Empathy initiatives to support Indigenous and refugee children
Roots of Empathy has a strong commitment and history to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable children – Indigenous children and refugee children. We recognize that certain populations need more support to ensure equity. Indigenous and refugee children benefit from the social and emotional learning provided by our programs, as well as from the sense of belonging and inclusion fostered in our classrooms.
Research shows that children in Roots of Empathy classrooms demonstrate increased prosocial behaviours (helping, sharing, caring and including) and decreased aggression including bullying.
